Get BIOS password in Linux (Backtrack) & Windows

CmosPwd decrypts password stored in cmos used to access BIOS settings.

With CmosPwd, you can also backup, restore and clear CMOS


R3 Backtrack 5 Tutorial

We enter the following path: 
Backtrack> Forensics> Password Forensics tools> cmospwd

It will display the following screen:



With the basic command #. / Cmospwd-k we can see 3 options: 
1. Kill cmos
Two. kill cmos (try to keep date and time)
Three. abort: 
Before we continue we ask What is CMOS?

The CMOS is a portion of memory responsible for storing the user settings of the motherboard some of which the user can change or not. We can set data such as the date and time, the parameters that define the hard drive, the boot sequence or setting output ports of entry, etc..


Good choose the option and give Enter. 

Well I hope that this tool very simple and easy to use can be helpful, it is noteworthy that runs on Windows and Linux platforms.
